We are very proud to present the first ever JBWere NAB Charitable Giving Index (CGI) report.

This report seeks to bring together the unique data of the CGI developed by the NAB Economics team in 2014 and the analysis of the JBWere Philanthropic Services team in order to provide timely insight into how philanthropy is evolving in real time.

The events of the last 18 months have had a dramatic effect on the for-purpose sector. Whilst the full effect of COVID-19 is still to be understood, research has revealed that many not-for-profit (NFP) organisations faced, and continue to face, difficulties in delivering on their purpose because of:

  • Service disruption;
  • Rising demand for services;
  • Falling revenue;
  • Higher costs; and
  • Decrease in volunteers.

It is in this context that changes in philanthropic funding must be analysed – because lasting positive, social change can only be delivered through an effective partnership between beneficiaries, communities, for-purpose organisations and funders.
